Summary ::::::::::::::::::: stopping by woods on a
snowy evening

Robert Frost is famous American poet. He is a realist as well as
a nature lover. But his love for nature is not as that of wordswrth’s. beauty
of nature attracts him and he enjoys nature but being a realist soon he comes
out of the world of imagination and fantasy and gets into the world of reality.
In stopping by woods on a
snowy evening the poet presents himself as a traveller who stops in woods/forest
on a snowy evening. Perhaps the poet knows the owner of woods who lives in a
nearby village. However he is satisfied that the owner does not see him
watching his woodlands. The horse of the poet wanders why they have stopped at
a barren place. It seems as if it is asking its rider whether they have
suffered some thing wrong. They could hear the slight ound of soft wind and
falling of snow.
The poet wants to stop there and enjoy the cool balmy scene. But
then he remembers that he has to perform some certain promises. The poet knows
that he has to do a lot of work before going to bed.
Moreover, horse, harness bell and sleep are presented in a
symbolic way. Poetic devices like personification, metaphor, symbolism are also
applied in this poem.
